The Hexagenia atrocaudata
species of the Ephemeridae
family, called the ‘Big Slate Drake”
is very similar to the
limbata or
famous "Great Olive Wing Dun"
but has its own imitation because
of its color. The
atrocaudata
species is an important mayfly on
many Eastern and Midwestern
streams and lakes.
