Deschutes River, Oregon - Fishing Report - April 29, 2017
The Deschutes is still high in all sections. The lower river is producing for those who are
fishing from drift boats. The weather forecast for the coming week looks good. There is
almost no rain in it and the stream levels should come on down to where it can be waded.
There are a lot of insects hatching.

Strategies, Techniques and Tips:
Remember, there is a big difference in the lower and upper rivers as far as
hatch times are concerned. Brown sculpin and White Belly Sculpin are two of the very
best flies to use during the entire year.
Various species of Blue-winged olives will hatch mostly on cloudy days.
Skwala stoneflies should start hatching anytime.  
March Browns are starting to hatch.
Spotted Sedges are hatching.
Green Sedges (caddisflies) are hatching.
Midges are hatching.
