Strategies, Techniques and Tips:
It is almost alway best to fish a tandem Midge rig under a small strike indicator with the
midge lava as the bottom fly and the midge pupa as the top fly. Fish the adult midge
only when you observe trout feeding on the surface.
Remember, there is a big difference in the lower and upper rivers as far as hatch times
are concerned.
Brown sculpin and White Belly Sculpin are two of the very best flies to use during the
entire year. Articulated streamers work good.
Various species of Blue-winged olives will hatch mostly on cloudy days. March Browns
are hatching. Salmonflies are hatching. Pale Morning duns are hatching.
Spotted sedge caddis are hatching.
