Frying Pan River, Colorado - Fishing Report -
October 14, 2018
The discharges and stream levels are still a little below normal levels.. There are still
lots of insects hatching, and lots of trout being caught. We received some good
reports this past week..
7 Day Weather Forecast: There is a chance of snow today and clear for the
coming week. Highs will range from 40 to 53 and lows 14 to 29.
Recommended Trout Flies:
Strategies, Techniques and Tips:
For larger trout, the Brown Sculpin and White Belly Sculpin streamers are great flies.
The Olive Matuka and Black Matuka Sculpin Streamers are great flies to use for the
larger trout. Crawl them on the bottom in the deepest water.
Blue-winged olives are hatching.
Spotted sedges are hatching.
October caddis are hatching.
We still think a good strategy is to fish a tandem Midge rig under a small strike indicator
with the midge lava as the bottom fly and the midge pupa as the top fly. Fish the adult
midge only when you observe trout feeding on the surface.
Little Yellow stoneflies are hatching.
