Frying Pan River, Colorado - Fishing Report -
August 07, 2018
The discharges and stream levels still a little low but the river is in good shape..
Wading is safe and easy but still use caution. There are lots of insects hatching,
terrestrials are working, and lots of trout being caught.
7 Day Weather Forecast: There is no chance of rain for the coming week,
otherwise clear. Highs will range from 85 to 87 and lows 42 to 45.
Recommended Trout Flies:
Strategies, Techniques and Tips:
We still think the best strategy is to fish a tandem Midge rig under a small strike
indicator with the midge lava as the bottom fly and the midge pupa as the top fly. Fish
the adult midge only when you observe trout feeding on the surface. For larger trout,
the Brown Sculpin and White Belly Sculpin streamers are great flies.
Blue-winged olives are hatching.
Spotted sedges are hatching.
Pale Morning duns are hatching.
Little Yellow stoneflies are hatching.
Tricos are hatching.
Terrestrials like Japanese beetles, carpener ants and hoppers are working.
