Lower (Middle) Owens River, California - Fishing Report -
J
une 01, 2017
The stream levels are still blown out, or very high, and very stained. We don't
recommend fishing it under these conditions. It isn't safe and wouldn't be very
productive.

Stream Conditions:

7 Day Weather Forecast:
There is a chance of snow from Saturday though
next Wednesday. The high will range from
69 to 70 degrees and lows from 43
to
58.

Recommended Trout Flies:
Rate: 760 cfs
Afternoon Water Temperature: 42
Clarity: badly stained
Blue-winged Olives, size 18, nymphs, emergers, duns and spinners
Black Matuka and Olive Matuka Sculpin, size 4/6
Brown Sculpin and White Belly Sculpin, size 6
Midges: Blood (Red), sizes 20/22, larva, pupa and adults
Midges: Light Green, size 20/22, larva, pupa and adults
Midges: Cream, size 20/22, larva pupa and adults
Strategies, Techniques and Tips:
Various species of Blue-winged Olives nymphs are plentiful and one of the main insect we
recommend imitating.
The Olive and Black Matuka Sculpin streamers are good flies to use for the larger trout. Brown
Sculpin and White Belly Sculpin streamers are great flies for this time of the season.
Midges are hatching. Fish the larva and pupa imitations in tandem.
