Stream conditions are high, too high to wade anywhere but falling. You should be able
to catch both trout on Midges, and steelhead on SH nymphs, estaz eggs. The water is
still cold.
Stream Conditions:
7 Day Weather Forecast: There is no chance of rain or snow for the next week.
Highs will range from 51 to 62 degrees and lows from 27 to 36 degrees
Recommended Trout Flies:
Midges: Blood (Red), sizes 20/22, larva, pupa and adults
Midges: Light Green, size 20/22, larva, pupa and adults
Midges: Cream, size 20/22, larva pupa and adults
Blue-winged Olives: size 16 and 18, nymph, emergers, duns and spinners
Brown Sculpin and White Belly Sculpin, size 6
Blue-winged Olives: size 16 and180, nymph, emergers, duns and spinners
Strategies, Techniques and Tips: Trout:
Midges will be important until early spring. Fish the larva and pupa imitations in tandem for
the best results.
Brown Sculpin and White Belly Sculpin are great flies to use anytime.
Various species of Blue-winged Olives are hatching, mostly on cloudy, overcast days.
