There are hatches in almost all sections of the river but they vary greatly from
section to section. Fish are being caught in the canyon section in decent
numbers. Sculpin streamers are getting the larger trout for our customers.
7 Day Weather Forecast: There is a slight chance of rain from Sunday
through next Thursday. Highs will range from 82 to 86 degrees and lows from
51 to 59 degrees.
Recommended Trout Flies:
Blue-winged Olives: size 16/18, nymph, emergers, duns and spinners
Black Matuka and Olive Matuka Sculpin, size 4/6
Brown Sculpin and White Belly Sculpin, size 6
Western Green Drakes, size 8/10, nymphs, emergers, duns and spinners
Golden Stoneflies, size 10/12, nymphs and adults
Green Sedges, (caddisflies) size 14/16, larva, pupa and adults
Spotted Sedges, (caddisflies) size 14/16, pupa and adults
Little Yellow stoneflies, size 16/14, nymphs and adults
Sandwich Hoppers, size 8-12, brown and green

Strategies, Techniques and Tips:
The White Belly and Brown Sculpin streamers are good flies to use for the larger size
trout. The Black Matuka and Olive Matuka sculpin streamers are also good flies to use
for the larger fish.
Blue Winged Olives hatch on warm, cloudy days.
Western Green Drakes are hatching on the lower end.
Golden Stoneflies are hatching.
Green Sedges,or caddisflies, are hatching.
Spotted Sedges, or caddisflies, are hatching.
Little Yellow stoneflies are hatching.
Terrestrials such as hoppers, Japanese beetles and Carpenter ants can be important.
