Taylor River, Colorado - Fishing Report - May 19, 2016
The stream levels are high, too high to wade safely. They are running the turbines
to keep the lake level down for the runoff. You can fish much of the river from the
banks. Sculpin streamers are working for some of our customers at this time. The
cold weather has little effect on the upper section.

Stream Conditions:

7 Day Weather Forecast:
There is a slight chance of rain on Wednesday,
otherwise clear
for the next week. Highs will range from 53 to 61 degrees and lows
24 to 33.

Afternoon Water Temperature: 52 (warmer in the lower river)

Strategies, Techniques and Tips:
Brown Sculpin and White Belly Sculpin are great flies to use for the next several weeks.
A good strategy is to fish a tandem Midge rig under a small strike indicator with the
midge lava as the bottom fly and the midge pupa as the top fly. Fish the adult midge
only when you observe trout feeding on the surface.
Blue-winged olives are hatching.
Skwala  stoneflies are hatching.
Little Brown stoneflies are hatching.
potted Sedges or caddisflies are hatching.
Green Sedges, or caddisflies, are hatching.
