Watauga River, Tennessee - Fishing Report - July 13, 2018
We had some good reports from the river the past two days. Blue-winged olives, Sulphurs,
Cinnamon and Green Sedge Caddis, and Midges are hatching good. The middle and
lower river water temperature has gotten warmer and more caddisfly hatches are taking
place.

Afternoon Water Temperature: 55 (middle and lower river)

Midges: Blood (Red), sizes 20/22, larva, pupa and adults

Strategies, Techniques and Tips:
There is little change in the best approach to use. Be sure to check the TVA release
schedule shown above. Our Brown Sculpin and White Belly Sculpin are excellent flies to
use anytime.
Midges are hatching. Fish the pupa and larva in tandem for the best results.
Aquatic worms are working.
Hatches of various species of Blue-winged Olives are possible in the afternoons and .
Sulphurs are hatching.
Cinnamon Caddis are hatching.
Green Sedge caddis are hatching.
Terrestrials such as Japanese beetles, Carpenter ants and hoppers are working.
