Fly Line:
The fly line we recommend for fly fishing the Connetquot River is a 3 to 5 weight floating line.
Fly Rod:
The fly rod should be a 3 to 5 weight, respective to the line size, in a medium to medium fast
action. We prefer lengths of 8 to 9 feet.
Leader:
Leader for trout should be tapered and range from seven and a half to twelve feet long. They
should range from a 1X up to a 7X size.
Tippet:
You want to carry plenty of extra tippet material ranging in sizes from 1X up to 7X.
Waders:
Unless you want to fish from the banks then waders are necessary.
Wading Boots:
Wading boots can currently have either felt or rubber soles.
Landing Net:
A landing net is purely optional.
Flies:
We recommend "Perfect Fly" Trout Flies. We have a huge selection in a wide price range. The
trout flies are not only as realistic as you will find on the commercial market, they are the most
effective at catching trout. Our imitations of specific species of mayfly nymphs emergers, duns
and spinners are very effective.
