Fly Fishing Gear, Tackle and Trout Flies - Huntington Creek Utah
All of the fly fishing can be done with a five or six weight floating, weight forward fly line. A
floating line should work fine for any type of fishing you do on Huntington Creek unless the
water is very cold and you want to fish a sinking tip line. Many would prefer to use a six
weight fly line for fishing larger nymphs and streamers.
You should have leaders ranging from size 1X for streamers up to 6X for midges. They
should range from seven and one-half feet to twelve feet in length with nine feet being the
most used length.
You should have spare tippet material in the same sizes as the leaders mentioned above.
A nine foot long fly rod in a medium fast to fast action would work quite well for any of the
The fly reels you use should have a good disc drag. I wouldn't want to hook a large trout on
a reel with a lousy drag.
I would recommend waders anywhere you fish Huntington Creek.
Felt soles work fine for this stream but you may want to consider the newer rubber soles to
help prevent the spread of didymo.
A wading staff would be purely optional.
Huntington Creek has a good population of aquatic insects. We recommend "Perfect Fly"
trout flies. We have specific imitations of every important insect that exist in the stream in
each stage of its life that's applicable to fishing. The wild brown trout can be very selective.
If you haven't already done so, we hope you will give them an opportunity to work for you.
