Fly Fishing Gear, Tackle and Trout Flies - Laurel Hill Creek
We recommend a 4 or 5 weight, floating fly line for most of the fishing on Laurel Hill Creek.
Some anglers may prefer to use a 6 weight fly floating fly line for heavier nymphs and
Leaders should range in sizes from a 0X for streamers up to a 6X for midges and small dry
flies. Lengths ranging from nine feet up to twelve feet in length are suggested.
Extra tippet material ranging from 0X to 6X should be available for the leaders we list above.
We suggest either a 4, 5 or 6 weight fly rod for each line size you choose to fish. It should
have a medium fast to fast action and be nine feet in length.
The fly reel you use for the 4, 5 or 6 weight line should be light and have good drags,
preferably disc drags.
You should have waders for fly fishing Laurel Hill Creek. We prefer the breathable type but
neoprene waders may be preferred during cold weather.
Felt soles would be our choice. The new rubber soles may work well.
A wading staff may be needed under higher water conditions.
A landing net would be purely optional.
We recommend our on "Perfect Fly" Trout Flies. We have specific imitations of all the insects,
crustaceans and other things that fish feed on in Laurel Hill Creek. They are not only the most
realistic flies you can buy, they are the most effective at catching trout. The holdover browns in
Laurel Hill Creek can be selective to the insects that are available at the time and matching
nymphs/larvae and the hatch is often necessary to catch them. If you haven't done so already,
we recommend you give them a try. There are the most realistic and effective trout flies you
