We recommend either a 4, 5 and 6 weight fly lines for fly fishing the Salmon River in
Connecticut. You only need a floating fly line most of the time but you may want a sinking tip
or sinking line, especially during cold weather.
We recommend either a 4, 5 or 6 weight fly rod for the respective line size you choose to
use. The fly rods should be 9 foot in length and in a medium to med-fast action.
The fly reel used should be for each of the 4, 5 and 6 weight lines you use and each have a
very good drag. We prefer disc drags but there are other types that will work as well. It
should be smooth.
